A woman died after getting stuck in a cargo lift in east China’s Jiangsu Province, local authorities said yesterday.

The accident happened at around 3:30pm on Monday in Wuxi, when the woman became stuck in a gap between the elevator and the platform.

An investigation is under way.

Last year, China had 48 elevator and escalator-related accidents with a total of 36 deaths reported.
