12 dead in factory collapse

12 dead in factory collapse

The debris of what was a shoe factory in Folong Village in east China’s Zhejiang Province yesterday after the building collapsed on Saturday. The death toll rose to 12 yesterday after rescuers recovered three bodies. Two people are still missing. According to local police, 56 people were in the building when it collapsed around 4pm. Only nine managed to escape by themselves. Rescue workers pulled 42 from the rubble and sent them to the hospital but nine of them died despite treatment. Local authorities deployed 53 firefighting trucks, 302 rescuers and five sniffer dogs. The cause of the collapse is under investigation. ...
