Uniqlo denies fitting room sex tape a marketing ploy
CLOTHING retailer Uniqlo today denied an allegation that a sex tape allegedly shot in one of its fitting rooms in Beijing was a marketing gimmick.
A video and several photos of a young man and woman having sex was alleged to have taken place in a Uniqlo store in Sanlitun, a popular shopping area in the capital, were uploaded by an unknown source to social networks.
In a statement released this morning, Japan-based Uniqlo said it had reported the content to the websites involved.
"We would like to remind the public to uphold social morality and use our fitting rooms in a correct and proper way," Uniqlo said in the statement.
"We also firmly deny some online allegations saying the video is our marketing gimmick." Uniqlo said in the statement.
Police in Chaoyang District, where Sanlitun is located, said on Wednesday they have started to investigate the incident after receiving reports from some netizens.
