Singer executed over 6 erotic asphyxiation deaths

A singer was executed last month for killing his sex partners in Changsha City, capital of Hunan Province, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported today.

Zhou Youping, 42, started seeking sex slaves on the Internet in September 2009. He wanted men aged between 23 and 40 who were interested in sadomasochism and he offered to pay them, the report said.

Many men applied and he eventually chose six. They were asked to partake in erotic asphyxiation, in which the supply of oxygen is cut off from the brain to increase sexual pleasure. Zhou thus asked the men to hang themselves, but didn’t release them and they strangled to death, the court said.

Police found six victims in different hotels between October 11 and November 26, 2009. Zhou was caught on November 28, 2009. He confessed, the report said.

The Changsha Intermediate People’s Court sentenced him to death in March 2011. The Hunan Higher People’s Court later confirmed only two of the murders, but upheld the death sentence.

The Supreme People’s Court approved the death sentence on August 29 and Zhou was executed later that day, the report said.
