CHINESE soldiers have become the latest to give a rendition of the popular song “Little Apple,” dubbed China’s “Gangnam Style.”

The song by the Chopstick Brothers has caught on with Chinese people due to its catchy tune and its fun dance after it debuted on May 3. Now PLA soldiers are getting in on the act.

The official website of the Ministry of National Defense on July 27 published a military camp-version of “Little Apple” in an attempt to attract youngsters to join the army during this year’s recruitment campaign.

It was made by the PLA’s recruiting office in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.

An official from the recruiting office told Beijing News that they decided to use “Little Apple” mainly because of its lyrics.

“The little apple could be interpreted as our nation, the army life or soldiers’ beloved people,” the official said.

One verse goes: “I want to become a candle to burn myself but light you up. I will give you all I have only if you feel happy. You are my little apple, I can’t love you more.”
