Mother admits to beating daughter to death after father originally confessed: report

A 6-year-old girl who was reportedly beaten to death by her father in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, was actually beaten by her pregnant mother, Qianjiang Evening News reported, citing local police.
The girl was taken to a hospital by her father on Sunday. She was covered with cuts and bruises and the corner of her mouth was bleeding, the report said. A doctor pronounced her dead and reported to the police.
The girl’s father, surnamed Wang, was detained by local police that day and confessed to beating his daughter to death, the report said.
The following day Wang told police he confessed because he didn’t want his pregnant wife to be jailed, according to the report. His wife, surnamed Shen, confessed later that day and said she had regretted her actions, the report said.
Shen admitted beating her daughter for several hours after having an argument with her husband, according to the newspaper.
