Man looting houses damaged in Tianjin blasts caught
A suspect who looted houses inside a residential complex, heavily hit in the Tianjin warehouse blasts, has been nabbed after being caught red-handed, according to Tianjin police.
The man surnamed Chen, 28, was caught by patrolling police on Sunday morning as he was carrying a great deal of items with him near the explosion site.
Chen said he sneaked into the Vanke Harbor City residential complex, which was severely affected in explosion waves, on August 13.
In three nights, he allegedly stole 12,000 yuan (US$876.8) in cash and goods such as gold jewelries, cameras and laptops, he added.
When he planned to leave on Sunday morning, patrolling police found him acting suspiciously and stopped him. Police later found the loots inside the complex’s greenery area.
