First bike-riding police squad starts patrolling crowded Hangzhou streets

WEARING black helmets emblazoned with the word “Police,” a squad of Hangzhou police officers began to patrol on bikes before the start of the National Day holiday.

Officials said police on bikes and electric mopeds can reach the scene of crime or accident quickly despite traffic congestion.

The cycling officers will patrol scenic areas around West Lake. Their brand-new outfits set them apart from other policemen.
