Eat like Cameron at Chengdu hotpot restaurant for 888 yuan

A HOTPOT restaurant in Chengdu that hosted visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron is offering an 888-yuan (US$145) set meal, which includes all the dishes Cameron ordered on Wednesday, a local news website reported today.

Waitress Cao Jing, who served Cameron, became popular as well. In order to get Cao as a waitress, diners have to pay an extra 1,000 yuan. Cao tells stories about how Cameron enjoyed the hotpot as an additional service.

The restaurant received many bookings for the room where the PM dined, and the proprietors named the room “Cameron” after the PM’s visit, Cao said.

The prime minister and his entourage ate at the restaurant at the Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center on Wednesday evening.

They ordered the "two-flavored" hotpot soup, and selected many vegetarian dishes. "It seems that coriander-mixed meatballs was the favorite dish for Cameron," said Cao. He also enjoyed the spicy food, Cao added.

The meal cost the prime minister’s group 877 yuan.
