Bomb threats targeting C. China airport divert at least three flights

AT least three domestic flights to or from Changsha in central China were diverted after receiving hoax bomb calls around noon today.

Flight JD5662 of Capital Airlines from Changsha in Hunan Province to Hangzhou first reported a hoax bomb call around noon some 30 minutes after the Airbus 319 took off.

The airline then diverted the aircraft to land at the nearby Nanchang Airport in Jiangxi Province.

All the passengers and crew were evacuated for a thorough inspection on the aircraft.

Flight CZ3743 with China Southern Airlines from Harbin to Changsha and Sichuan Airlines' flight 3U8998 from Fuzhou to Changsha also received similar calls. No bombs were found.

It was the second set of serial bomb threat calls involving the Changsha Huanghua Airport within a week. Airport police received a hoax call on Sunday saying a man placed a bomb on a flight to take off at 10pm at the airport. The police canceled the alert at 11:30pm and a search found no explosives.
