At least 4 killed in suspected gas explosion in S China city

AT least four were killed and 21 injured, including 7 critically, in a store blast in Xiamen, southern China’s Fujian Province, the Xiamen Daily reported.

The report said the blast started from a ground-floor store in the Fuyuan Apartment Building on Jiahe Road, Huli District about 11:20am today.

It’s suspected to be a gas explosion, the report said.

Firefighters were seen removing gas tanks from the building.

A dozen fire engines had rushed to the scene in about 10 minutes after the blast. Buildings within 10 meters off the blast site had been affected, the report said.

The cause of the blast remained unclear.
