40-degree weather alerts

CHINA’S meteorological authority yesterday issued a yellow alert for high temperatures for many localities today, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in some areas.
In Chongqing City in southwest China, Shaanxi Province in north China and most central China provinces, temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius are expected today, the National Meteorological Center said.
Hebei Province in north China, Jiangxi Province in east China, Turpan basin in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and other areas could see temperatures top 40 degrees Celsius today, said the center.
China has a four-color-coded weather warning system, with red the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
