White House security reviewed after intrusion

THE Secret Service said Saturday a comprehensive review of White House security procedures was launched after an intruder jumped over the fence and ran on the grounds of the complex on the previous night.

The review began late Friday with a physical assessment of the site and personnel interviews, and the Secret Service said it will check all operational policies and security procedures.

In the interim, there will be an immediate enhancement of officer patrols and surveillance capabilities along the Pennsylvania Avenue fence line around the White House complex, the Secret Service said.

The findings will be submitted to the Department of Homeland Security, it added.

Friday's intruder, identified as Omar J. Gonzalez, was nabbed after entering the White House North Portico doors.

On Saturday, another man was arrested at the White House and charged with trespassing.
