American actor John Heard dies at 72
AMERICAN film and television actor John Heard, best known for his role as the dad in the "Home Alone" movies, has died, the medical examiner's office in the Santa Clara County, California, said on Saturday.
The beloved star of several huge 1980s and 1990s movies, passed away on Friday in Palo Alto, California.
He was found dead in a hotel by the maid service, reported TMZ, a celebrity news website, citing family sources.
Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the report.
The coroner is investigating the cause of Heard's death, but police do not suspect foul play, TMZ reported.
Heard was born on March 7, 1945, in Washington, D.C. and established himself as a repected thespian in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He was famous for playing his most memorable mainstream role as Peter McCallister, the dad in "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." Heard was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1999 for guest starring on "The Sopranos."
Heard was married three times, most notably to "Superman" star Margot Kidder, only six days in 1979.
