Woman Holds Umbrella for Traffic Police in the Rain
The photo of a young woman holding an umbrella for a policeman directing traffic in the rain at a crossroad in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, went viral on the Internet.
The photo, taken by a driver waiting for the green light, drew a lot of praises for the policeman and the woman.
Zhao Lixin, the officer in the picture, is actually a police assistant. His uniform was soaked with rain as he stood on his post to direct rush-hour traffic in the early evening of July 21.
A young woman with a ponytail came from behind and held an umbrella over him. Zhao didn’t notice this until he turned around to guide the flow of traffic.
He asked the woman to leave because he was wearing a rain-proof jacket, but the woman did not leave. Every time he turned around, he could see her holding the umbrella for him.
After about 10 minutes, Zhao’s colleague came and they together persuaded the woman to leave. She was already wet from head to toe in the rain.
Zhao said he was worried for her safety in the middle of traffic but he concentrated on directing traffic. He even didn’t say thank-you to the woman. He said he hoped to find her and express his gratitude in person.
