Why Did This Teenage Girl Gain 10 Kilograms In 6 Months?
Like other girls of her age, Li Jia, from Meishan City of Sichuan Province, is concerned about her weight.
However, rather than going on a diet, she busts a gut eating a lot. Now she weighs 60 kilograms, compared to 50kg just six months ago.
Li Jia did it all for her mother Li Ping who was diagnosed with the chronic myelocytic leukemia in 2009. Li Ping scrambled to survive till 2015 when the doctor suggested a bone-marrow transplantation.
Li Jia was found eligible to donate her bone-marrow. However, concerns remained that to be a better bone marrow match, she’d better have weight same as her mother. It is then that Li Jia decided to gain weight and strictly followed a specialized diet regime.
She had to eat 100g of noodles for breakfast and at least two bowls of rice and fatty meat for lunch. In addition, she had to eat instant noodles for dinner, and some snacks at night.
Li Jia never ate fatty meat before, but now she's got used to it.
She even avoided going to P.E class entirely to prevent her fat from being burnt.
Her efforts paid off. Li jia became a qualified donor.
I want my mother to stay with me as long as I could. And it matters more to me rather than my weight.
As a teenager, she couldn’t turn a blind eye to her burgeoning figure as her classmates would joke about her weight.
She found it hard to try on her previous clothes and had to turn to loose-fitting garments, such as white T-shirts and jeans.
Others also took note of her commitment. Helping hands came from Li jia’s class teacher who initiated a donation drive for her mother's treatment in the school and online.
Now Li’jia got 5,000 yuan from school and 70,000 yuan online.
Li jia ‘s father divorced Li Ping four years ago after she refused to be a burden on him anymore. Making a living in Guangzhou, he continued to fund the treatment and living costs of his ex-wife.
What a daughter Li Jia proved to be!
