Man Recovers Diamond Ring He Flushed down Plane’s Toilet

A passenger recovered his 300,000 yuan (US$43,700) diamond ring that he accidentally flushed down an airplane toilet on May 21.

The man from Huzhou, Zhejiang Province dropped his two-carat ring down the toilet on Qatar Airways' Flight QR890 heading from Doha to Hangzhou.

When the flight arrived at the Xiaoshan International Airport, the airline's staff helped him call the cleaning department of the airport ground service company to search for the ring.

By then, the waste water on the plane has been sucked down into a holding tank of the sewage truck. In order to find the ring, two staff transported the waste to an open space and discharged it.

They walked barefoot in the dirty water but found nothing. Then they had to go on looking for the ring in the sewage tank.

Thanks to their great efforts, they finally spotted the ring after over an hour of searching. Both of them said they felt unclean even after a 1.5-hour-long shower.

When the passenger saw his ring, he was thrilled and repeatedly expressed his gratitude.
