China Eastern Airhostesses Fulfill Terminally Sick Girl’s Dream Of Flying
China Eastern Airlines airhostess transformed a hospital ward into an airline cabin in Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, on Wednesday to fulfill a long-held dream of an 11-year-old girl suffering from late-stage ovarian cancer.
The girl, Kong Ling, said she wanted to take a flight when her father asked her if she had any wishes or desires several days ago. However, her physical condition made it difficult to head out.
Volunteers from Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines then helped to create a simulated flight experience for the girl by putting up wallpapers that reflected the inside of the cabin of an aircraft on the walls of the hospital ward and practiced the whole flight procedure for about 10 minutes.
They also buckled up Kong with safety belt on her wheelchair, offered her flight meal and presented her with an airplane model.
The wallpaper featuring the interior of the airline cabin will be kept in Kong’s ward.
