64-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth
A 64-year-old woman from Changchun, capital of north China’s Jilin Province, delivered a boy weighing 3.5 kg by Caesarean section on Wednesday morning, according to local media.
This is the woman’s second child; the first having died at an unspecified time.
The woman had reportedly experienced amenorrhea for more than 10 years. She was impregnated by artificial insemination. Both mother and son were said to be doing well at the Second Hospital of Jilin University.
According to Metro Express, the woman suffered from complications during the pregnancy, including gestational diabetes when she was 28 weeks pregnant.
The attending doctor, Teng Hong, said the woman was the eldest mother she’s ever helped deliver. Teng applauded her courage.
