Girl Survives Dart In Head
A six-and-a-half-year-old girl from Guizhou Province survived having a 10-centimeter dart plunged into her head, the Guiyang Evening Post reported earlier this week. The projectile was reportedly lodged in the girl’s head by her 7-year-old brother while the two were playing.
Their parents rushed the girl, from Changshun County in Guizhou Province, to the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University in the provincial capital, Guiyang, on the early morning of January 31.
Emergency doctors at the hospital referred the case to neurosurgeons. The dart was removed after a roughly 30 minute procedure.
“The surgery seemed simple but was very critical indeed, ” said Xu Yuan, one of the surgeons. The girl’s situation was not considered life-threatening.
