LOOKING for somewhere special to take the kids to celebrate Children’s Day on June 1? Then look no further, for we’ve chosen some places where children and their parents can enjoy a fun day out around the big day.
No matter whether it’s watching a play, taking part in a musical treasure hunt or even getting up close to flowerpots, there are plenty of choices.
Hub Novo @ Daning
The newly opened Hub Novo of Daning Life Hub is a creative space in the commercial complex composed of three parts: the micro parent-child theater; the cultural innovation experience zone; and the innovative workshop zone. Together, these offer a wide range of entertainment and leisure possibilities.
The micro parent-child theater — the first of this kind in China — plays host to excellent international artists presenting world-class performances for children aged from 2 to 12 and their families.
Performances are bilingual and involve a lot of interaction to engage young audience members.
Parents can also purchase various kids’ products at the cultural innovation experience zone, which combines online and offline shopping. Customers can view and choose merchandise through online platform, then purchase it at Hub Novo shops.
Star search @ Kerry Parkside
Kerry Parkside is inviting boys and girls aging from 5 to 14 to step onto the stage and showcase their talents. Parents can also get involved and there are prizes up for grabs.
Applicants can get the registration form at the customer service center of Kerry Parkside or download it from www.kerryparkside.com/index.php/zh/event-cn/item/446-2015.
Children should be able to speak Chinese or English, and registration must be approved by their parents in writing. The registration period is from June 1 to August 31. There will three rounds of competition, with the final taking place in late September.
Flowerpots show @ Jinqiao
Beautiful flowerpots made from recycled materials are on show at Jinqiao Life Hub until June 22, to help develop children’s interest in nature and the environment.
The show will feature flowerpots and other plant containers made of wood, bamboo, plaster — as well as reusing porcelain items and a wine bottle.
A garden designed by famous designers has been constructed in the complex — providing a perfect green spot for a bit of tranquility among Shanghai’s concrete forests.
Pop singer @ Anting
Anting Life Hub has invited pop singer Huang Yali to perform at the commercial complex before Children’s Day. The singer will sing songs from her latest album “Fantasy” which takes imagination as its theme.
There will be four magic rooms themed imagination, a child’s dream, growing-up and yummy food. Children, accompanied by their parents, can play various games and learn to make snacks in the pavilions. Musical elements will be hidden by Huang in the rooms for young visitors to find.
Young models will showcase Huang’s fashion collection on Saturday.
