Create a dream garden with these top tips

GARDENS are a source of great pleasure for many people. They add beauty to a property and can be used to entertain family and friends.

In Shanghai, gardens are a luxury with space at such a premium. But if blessed with the good fortune of having a garden, here are some ideas that may help make the space as beautiful as possible.

Furniture

If the goal is to spend lots of time in your garden, whether alone or entertaining, furniture is necessary. Table and chairs will go a long way to making the space comfortable for outdoor meals. A barbecue is another must as is a pair of sun-bathing chairs.

Established in 1969 in Britain, B&Q is among the top home furnishing brands in China due to its quality products and services. It now has 10 outlets across Shanghai.

You can get almost everything you need for your garden, including tables and chairs, gardening tools and barbecue equipment.

It also offers decoration services.

Visit www.bnq.com.cn for the locations of all Shanghai stores.

Flowers

What is a garden without flowers? Visit some flower markets and add a variety of color to your garden.

Shuangji Flower and Gardening Market in Pudong is one of the biggest flower markets in Shanghai. It almost feels like a big rainforest when walking around. The first floor sells real flowers while the second floor provides silk versions and other garden decorations. It’s also a good place to practice your bargain skills.

Barbecue

B&Q and Taobao.com are good choices when looking for barbecue tools like oven, grates and charcoal.

Online venders also sell meat and sauces for barbecuing. But for those who prefer going the old school route, Xibeilang Barbecue which is a popular barbecue restaurant has everything needed for a good barbecue.

Several outlets in the city have everything from lamb ribs and chicken wings to oysters and vegetables. All food is semi-cooked.
