Online course helps

A charity project using designed online courses to help children in remote mountain areas in Yunnan Province has been launched by United Overseas Bank China, Guangyin Education and related organizations.

The project, UOB Brings Me To Enjoy the World, offers online courses in 24 subjects at two schools in Yunnan. It aims to help those children get access to knowledge and information, despite the limitation of space and geography. The online course includes science and culture.

“Children here all live a simple life. Their world is family and school. Their world is the mountain. If there are opportunities, I want them to see more, and know more about this world,” said Shi Jiahui, headmaster of Jiunaishan Wanxiao Primary School in Nujiang City, one of the two schools that will use this online course.

“I hope the Internet will benefit more children, parents and teachers in the remote ares, and feel the care the society gives,” said Peter Foo, president and CEO of United Overseas Bank China.
