Shenhua secures Guarin from Inter

Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin has joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to become the club’s first foreign signing before the new season.
Greenland Shenhua confirmed the signing of the Colombian late yesterday. Guarin is with the team which is in Marbella, Spain, for off-season training. He held talks with the club officials in Spain on Tuesday evening local time. He had his medical today morning and then watched his new teammates play a friendly match against Marbella FC.
The Chinese Super League side reportedly paid Inter close to 11 million euros (US$11 million) for the 29-year-old attacking midfielder. Guarin is on a two-year deal and will earn 5.5 million euros a year. If Shenhua advances to the AFC Champions League, Inter will pocket another 1 million euros.
Elsewhere, another CSL side Jiangsu Suning announced yesterday that it had signed a four-year contract with Ramires Santos from the English Premier League side Chelsea for 28 million euros. The 28-year-old Brazilian joined Chelsea in 2010 and has scored 37 goals in 242 outings for the club.
Guarin shot to fame with Porto in Portugal, where he spent four seasons and won 10 major titles including three league titles and the 2011 Europa League. He joined Inter on loan in January 2012, and made the move permanent later that year.
Guarin was initially linked to Jiangsu. However, after Suning’s unsuccessful attempt to seal a deal with AC Milan striker Luiz Adriano, Guarin shifted his interest to Greenland Shenhua. His compatriot Giovanni Moreno has captained Shenhua and is a fan favorite.
The Shanghai outfit has also been linked with Portuguese international and former Manchester United player Nani.
Greece defender Avraam Papadopoulos and Mali midfielder Mohamed Sissoko may be the two casualties following the arrival of Guarin because of the foreign players quota.
