French doctor claims success in Demba Ba's surgery

FRENCH surgeon Olivier Bringer said the 3-hour long surgery on Demba Ba's fractured leg was successful.

Ba went under the knife at Putuo District People’s Hospital this morning.

The Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker was anesthetized at 9:40am. The surgery started at 10:40am and was completed at 1:55pm.

According to Shenhua general manager Wu Xiaohui, Bringer did the stitches on the wound himself.

"Bringer was stitching carefully. He told me before the surgery that he would make it one of his most perfect operations," said Wu.

Nearly 100 Greenland Shenhua fans showed up at the hospital since morning to show their support to the Senegal striker.

Doctors said Ba will stay in the ICU for three days for observation.

He will then spend another week in the hospital's VIP ward before his family decides whether to move Ba to a medical center in Qatar for recovery.

The 31-year-old forward broke his leg in a challenge from SIPG captain Sun Xiang during the second half of the CSL game at Hongkou Football Stadium on Sunday.
