Argentine player dies after heart attack
Second division Argentine football player Cristian Gomez of Atletico Parana died after suffering heart failure while playing a match.
Gomez, 27, collapsed 30 minutes into a game on Sunday against Boca Unidos, a league official said. He was resuscitated briefly but died on his way to hospital, said Ramon Gomez, the Argentine Football Association’s delegate for the game in the northeastern city of Corrientes. The defender is the second player to die in just under two weeks in Argentina. Emanuel Ortega, a player for fourth-division team San Martin de Burzaco, died after hitting his head on a post used to support fencing at the stadium.
