Citroen’s Meeke leads Rally Australia after 6 stages
CITROEN driver Kris Meeke of Northern Ireland took a 2.1-second lead after six stages yesterday of Rally Australia, the 10th of 14 events on the World Rally Championship.
Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland was in second place while his Volkswagen teammate and defending world champion Sebastien Ogier of France was third, a half-second behind Latvala. Ogier and Latvala need five points from the rally to clinch the manufacturers’ title for Volkswagen. Ogier leads Latvala by 44 points for the driver’s championship.
The 20-stage Australian race ends tomorrow with six stages through more than 100 kilometers of rainforest. It is being held about 525km north of Sydney.
