East Asia tops Shenxin in derby
SHANGHAI East Asia scored two late goals to beat city rival Shenxin 3-1 in a Chinese Super League derby match at Shanghai Jinshan Stadium last night.
Shenxin scored the opening goal just three minutes after kick-off. Brazilian striker Jailton Paraiba was pulled down inside the box by East Asia’s goalkeeper Yan Junling. Peter Utaka scored from the spot for the host team. But East Asia equalized before halftime with Australian striker Daniel McBreen’s header.
The score remained tied for most part of the game till the closing minutes when East Asia struck twice. Palestinian striker Imad Khalili made it 2-1 before Wu Lei finished the game off in the 93rd minute. The victory moved East Asia to fourth place in the 16-team CSL. Shanghai Shenxin is 13th.
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua is ninth after being held to a 0-0 draw in Hangzhou by Greentown.
