Sichuan Whales Fined

SICHUAN Blue Whales were fined 150,000 yuan (US$23,160) by the CBA for failing to provide adequate security to the visiting Liaoning Flying Leopard in Chengdu on Wednesday.

Liaoning players were involved in a scuffle with local fans after Game 3 of the CBA Finals. The Chinese Basketball Association said it was the host’s responsibility to ensure the accommodation and safety of the visiting teams. Six people were injured in the clash, including three Liaoning players. Sichuan won 96-87 in Game 4 of the best-of-7 series yesterday to take a 3-1 lead in the finals.
