Serbia sets up US final

SERBIA held off France 90-85 in the semifinals of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Madrid on Friday to set up a title fight against undefeated reigning champion the United States.

Serbia won five world titles as part of Yugoslavia as recently as 2002 but it now has reached its first final since independence. It next plays the US which beat Lithuania 96-68 in Barcelona on Thursday.

Milos Teodosic led the way with 24 points while Bogdan Bogdanovic had 13 as Serbia ousted France, which had beaten host and major title contender Spain in the quarters. Nicolas Batum scored a game-high 35 points for European champion France — 17 of those in the fourth quarter — and Boris Diaw added 13.
