Mavericks boost Nowitzki deal to US$50 million
DIRK Nowitzki has signed his contract with Dallas, and a person with knowledge of the deal says it’s worth more than the original agreement.
The 38-year-old German star who has spent all 18 of his seasons with the NBA’s Mavericks signed a two-year, US$50 million contract on Wednesday — US$10 million more than the deal struck before contracts could be signed. After playing for two years on a hometown discount at roughly US$8 million per season, Nowitzki will be the highest-paid Dallas player at US$25 million in 2016-17. Free-agent addition Harrison Barnes, who signed a four-year, US$94 million contract, will make about US$22 million next season.
