Ginobili set for Spurs return

SAN Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginobili is poised to return for a 16th season with the NBA giants, reports said on Tuesday.
The Argentina star, who turns 40 later this month, had hinted he may retire after the Spurs were downed in the Western Conference finals by Golden State last season.
However ESPN reported that Ginobili, a veteran of four NBA championship-winning Spurs teams, was finalizing terms on a new deal for at least one more season.
Ginobili has played the entirety of his NBA career with the Spurs, encompassing 922 regular-season games and 212 postseason appearances.
He has averaged 13.6 points per game with 3.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals in regular-season play.
In May, Ginobili was given a rousing ovation on an emotional night in San Antonio as the Spurs’ season ended with a 115-129 defeat to the Warriors. The Argentine lapped up the adulation but insisted he still felt fit enough to continue playing.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have signed former second-round pick Cedi Osman.
The Cavaliers announced the move on Tuesday. Osman has played the last five seasons for Anadolu Efes in the Turkish Basketball League. He gets a three-year deal worth US$8.3 million. The Cavaliers have also agreed to pay US$700,000 to Anadolu to help meet his US$1 million buyout clause.
Last season, Osman averaged 13.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 35 games. In Euroleague play, Osman averaged 7.1 points and 2.8 rebounds. The 6-foot-8 forward is a defensive-minded player who figures to give Cleveland some depth at the end of the bench in the frontcourt. He was acquired in a draft-night trade with the Timberwolves on 2015.
Osman joins Kyle Korver, Jose Calderon and Jeff Green as signings this summer for the Cavaliers, who have made it to three straight NBA Finals.
