3,000 runners participate in Dongtan Challenge in Chongming

ABOUT 3,000 runners took part in “Under Armour The Strongest SIIC Dongtan Challenge” in Chongming Island.
The participants had to run 4km before completing a 9km cross-country route at the Dongtan Wetland Park with its forest and saline-alkali land. They then had to conquer eight obstacles, including carrying sandbags and crossing single-plank bridges before reaching the finish line.
The organizers had arranged shuttle buses to ferry participants and spectators to the venue.
The event is part of a new competition series – Shangma Speed X Series – introduced by Shanghai International Marathon organizers Donghao Lansheng Event Management Co. Unlike traditional road running races, Shangma Speed X Series includes cycling, cross-country and other competitions with vivid themes.
