Bremen dismisses coach Dutt
GERMAN Bundesliga bottom side Werder Bremen yesterday sacked coach Robin Dutt with his team winless after nine games of the season.
Having been in charge for just over a year, the 49-year-old was relieved of his job less than 24 hours after his side’s 0-1 defeat at home to Cologne on Friday which left it with just four points and having conceded 23 goals.
The four-time German champion — though its last title was back in 2004 — was routed 6-0 at German league leader Bayern Munich last Saturday with the visitors failing to generate a single shot at goal over 90 minutes.
Dutt becomes the third Bundesliga coach to be sacked this season after Mirko Slomka (from Hamburg) and Jens Keller (Schalke 04).
Bremen’s Under-23 coach Viktor Skripnik has been appointed as caretaker coach. The 44-year-old Skripnik will be assisted by Florian Kohfeldt, Torsten Frings and Christian Vander.
