Suspected serial killer charged with 11 murders

A SUSPECTED serial killer has been charged with murder, rape, robbery and insulting corpses, prosecutors in Baiyin City, northwest China’s Gansu Province, said on Monday.

Gao Chengyong, 53, was accused of raping and killing 11 people in Baiyin City and Baotou City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 1988 to 2002.

Gao is said to have targeted young women wearing red and followed them home to rape and kill them, often cutting their throats and mutilating their bodies. The youngest victim was just 8 years old.

Gao was detained in a grocery store he ran with his wife in August 2016 in Baiyin City.

Gao was dubbed China’s “Jack the Ripper” for the way he mutilated several of his female victims.
