Qingdao skyscraper owner vows completion despite funding issues
THE owners of a skyscraper in north China set to be the world's fifth-tallest building have said it will be completed by the end of 2017 despite financial difficulties that have seen its construction stutter.
A spokesperson for Goldin Properties Holding told Xinhua in an email interview that it had "sufficient funding" to complete Goldin Finance 117 in Qingdao and was "under no pressure to swap the project for cash."
Goldin suffered steep falls in the stock market last year, as the Hong Kong-headquartered property developer's inventory mounted amid stagnation in China's property market.
Goldin Finance 117 is 596.5 meters tall and has 117 stories due to be filled by hotels and offices. Construction began in 2008.
