Paparazzi social media accounts shut down for invading privacy

DOZENS of paparazzi social media accounts have been shut down after they were accused of invading privacy and spreading vulgar content, the Beijing Cyberspace Administration announced yesterday.
The administration talked to the management of several popular news websites and social media platforms including Sina Weibo, Toutiao, WeChat, Tecent, Youku, Netease and Baidu yesterday afternoon and asked them to enhance their supervision on accounts as well as create a healthy public opinion environment. It required a curb on hyping stars' gossip and scandals.
Sina Weibo closed 19 accounts, including account of Zhuo Wei, who claimed to be China's No.1 paparazzi, and his team. Zhuo has more than 7 million followers on Weibo.
Most of these paparazzi accounts were found revealing gossip stories or fabricating rumors about celebrities' private life.
