Han meets visiting president of Argentina
韩正会见阿根廷总统马克里 上海愿为中阿合作贡献更大力量

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Mauricio Macri on Thursday as the Argentine president was on a state visit to China after attending the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing earlier in the week.

Han said Macri’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will further strengthen the two nations’ comprehensive strategic partnership and make their bilateral cooperation more fruitful for two peoples.

He noted that Shanghai is the economic center of China and has cooperated closely with Argentina in economy, trade, education, culture, sports and other areas. The municipal government encourages Shanghai companies to invest in Argentina and work with their local partners.

Han expressed the hope for more active cooperation between Shanghai and Argentina in science and technology. The city wants to make a big contribution to the development of China-Argentina relationship.

Macri said Argentina is building comprehensive strategic partnership with China and forging closer ties in trade, agriculture, science and technology, tourism, culture and sports. These are the common aspiration of Argentians.

The president said he was impressed by Shanghai’s robust development. Argentians working in the city feel the friendliness of the city. He welcomes more Shanghai companies to find investment opportunities in his country.

Chinese Ambassador to Argentina Yang Wanming also joined the meeting.
