Traffic cop knocked down by biker on elevated road

A traffic police officer was seriously injured after being knocked down by a motorcycle on Friday morning.

The officer was trying to stop the bike rider who was illegally using the North-South Elevated Road.

Mao Weimin, the 53-year-old police officer, had multiple bruises and suffered fractures in both legs. He was being treated in the hospital, but his life was not in danger.

Mao was knocked down at the off-ramp at Wenshui Road when he was trying to intercept Cheng.

The motorcycle rider, a 19-year-old man surnamed Cheng, has been detained.

Police said Cheng, a resident of Baoshan District, was riding a motorcycle with no plate and did not have a license with him.
