Shanghai tourist falls to his death in Shanxi Province
A Shanghai tourist died after he fell from a cliff in north China's Shanxi Province on Saturday, it was confirmed today.
Ding Ding, 28, was one of a nine-member group touring the mountainous area in Shanxi’s Shuangdi Village. Four of were from Shanghai, while the other five were from Henan Province. Their destination was near the border of Henan and Shanxi.
Henan rescuers said they were told someone fell from a cliff about 3:30pm on Saturday, but only managed to reach the scene around midnight due to bad weather making conditions treacherous.
Ding Ding's body was found at the bottom of the cliff.
At first, the group refused to move, insisting on staying with their dead colleague but they were eventually persuaded to come down from the mountain and arrived at a nearby village at 5am today.
A report on xinmin.cn said that Ding Ding was due to be married soon.
