Run record hack was fast earner

TWO college students have been held by police after reportedly earning cash from classmates by hacking into their college website to alter morning run records.
The suspects, surnamed Chen and Zhang, allegedly helped 200 schoolmates who didn’t fancy an early morning run but were worried about their PE scores.
The name of the school in Songjiang District was not revealed.
Police said the pair first broke into the school system last December to alter their own morning run records, as they feared they would fail the PE class as they hadn’t completed enough.
Afterward, schoolmates who wanted to spend a bit longer in bed turned to them for help and they made it into a business, it is claimed.
The duo reportedly charged 15 to 20 yuan for each morning run between last December and March, police said.
They were caught after the school discovered the hacking and reported it to police. The system has been restored, officers said.
A morning run is a mandatory part of PE at many colleges. Usually 1 kilometer, it takes place between 6:30am and 7:30am.
Students must run between 15 to 20 times each semester and complete the distance within six minutes.
A number of schools offer evening runs instead.
