Foreign passenger dies after flight drama

A FOREIGN passenger died after falling ill on a flight from Shanghai to Bangkok yesterday.

The male passenger, whose name was not released, is said to have fallen unconscious on the Shanghai Airlines flight from Pudong International Airport.

Some web users said the man who died was Indian.

Flight FM855 left at 3pm and was scheduled to reach Bangkok at 6:05pm, said Shanghai Airlines.

But after the passenger fell ill, it diverted to Nanchang in east China’s Jiangxi Province, landing at 4:40pm, the airline said on its website.

Shanghai Airlines told thepaper.cn that the crew administered first aid but that he died in hospital at Nanchang.

A netizen, identified as “Dachuangege”, said on the Weibo microblog that a tour guide argued with crew after passengers were bussed to Nanchang.

The flight left Nanchang for Bangkok at around 8pm, said Shanghai Airlines.
