Metro crowd control for auto show
PASSENGER restrictions are being introduced at Metro Line 2 East Xujing Station today to help handle crowds expected for the 2015 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition being held nearby.
And shuttle buses will run from the new National Exhibition and Conventional Center, which is hosting China’s biggest auto show, to other stations to help disperse passengers.
Line 2 is Shanghai’s busiest Metro line, ferrying 1.7 million passengers every weekday.
Metro operator Shanghai Shentong Group will introduce one-way passenger systems at East Xujing Station, the western terminus, for the 10-day show.
From 1:30pm, Exit 4 will only be used by passengers entering the station, while from 4pm Exit 6 will only be for those exiting. Exit 5 will be closed from 3pm.
Shuttle buses from the center will run to Line 10’s Hongqiao Airport T1 Station, Line 9’s Zhongchun Road Station and Line 13’s Jinyun Road Station 4pm on April 20 to 28 and from 3pm on April 29.
The show features 2,000 auto companies from 18 countries and regions. No models will appear this year, and children are banned for “safety reasons.”
