Man held in killing over dispute

A MAN has been taken into custody for killing another man over job introduction on Sunday, Shanghai police said.

The 31-year-old man, surnamed Liao, called police at about 3pm on Sunday afternoon, claiming that he had killed a man near the intersection of Shenjiang Road S. and Xiayan Road in Pudong.

When police reached the scene, they found a man seated behind the wheel of a car with neck and chest injuries. The car looked like it had crashed into a cargo van parked next to it.

The man in the car was surnamed Li who later died, police said.

Witnesses told local media that the car hit the van as the driver lost control of the car while struggling with another man in the car.

Liao, who had fled the scene, was caught in Chedun Town in Songjiang District the same evening. He admitted that he had knifed Li because he had disagreements with Li who was a job agent. Police said they were still investigating the case.
