Man gets over 10 years in jail for robbery
A MASKED man who threatened a 10-year-old girl with a knife during a robbery was sentenced to 10 years and six months in jail by the Baoshan District People’s Court.
The 20-year-old robber, surnamed Zuo, sneaked into a villa by climbing up the downspout on August 11 this year. He covered his face with a red scarf and hid on the third floor when he saw the girl, surnamed Zhu, who was alone in the house at that time.
He threatened the little girl with a knife and demanded the password of the safe in the room. But Zhu did not know the password so he locked her in the room and left the villa empty-handed. Police later caught up with him. Prosecutors charged him with robbery even though he did not take anything from the house.
