Man forklifts, overturns police cars in Pudong to vent anger over demolition of his illegal roadside construction

A 50-year-old man was detained for forklifting and damaging two empty police cars in Pudong on Tuesday out of grudge over the demolition of his illegal construction on the sidewalk, police said.

Both the police vehicles were slightly damaged but none were injured in the case, police said.

A construction Ma had illegally built on the sidewalk was demolished by law enforcers on 1:30pm Tuesday. The angry man arrived in a forklift truck half an hour later, which he had stolen from his former employer, and started the chaos.

Police said he first forklifted away an empty police car parking on the street-side, which was damaged during the movement, shocking the passers-by. When alerted police arrived and got off their car to stop him, he went on to forklift their police car, causing it to finally turn on its side with a broken door.

Ma managed to flee the scene but was shortly caught by police.

Police said Ma was once diagnosed with mental diseases but it remained to be found out whether he’s clear-minded at time of the incident.
