Line 15 station seals its roof
QI’AN Road station on the city’s new Metro Line 15 sealed its roof yesterday — the first station on the line to do so.
The roof frame was sealed a week earlier than scheduled, the Metro operator said.
Line 15 is estimated to begin trial operation by the end of 2020, by which time it will become “the western corridor of the city’s Metro system,” the operator added. Line 15 will efficiently improve the north-south traffic in western area.
The line will stretch over more than 43.2 kilometers and will have 30 stations. Its route runs through Baoshan, Putuo, Changning, Xuhui and Minhang.
Last week, Shanghai South Railway Station, another station on Line 15, announced its design plan.
According to Shanghai Municipal planning and Land and Resources Administration, by the time this station is completed, Line 15 will “seamlessly connect” with Line 1 and the commercial area by the station.
Three other lines — Line 17, the eastern extension of Line 9 (Phase 3) and the Pujiang Line — will officially launch at the end of this year.
