Limits on vehicles bound for Zhejiang
SHANGHAI traffic police have reminded drivers that neighboring Zhejiang Province will introduce alternate driving days for cars with even- and odd-numbered plates on highways from Sunday.
The measure, being put in place for the G20 summit in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, will last until September 6.
Police said they will check all the cars heading to Zhejiang at the G60 Hukun Highway and S36 Tingfeng Highway.
Drivers with wrong plates will be turned back.
The rule means that on odd-number dates, only cars with odd-number plates are allowed to use the expressways, with the same applying for even-number dates.
Since Tuesday, messages about the new rule are being splashed on electronic boards on highways including the Outer Ring Road, G1501 Shanghai Ring Highway, S32 Shenjiahu Highway, G15 Shenhai Highway, G50 Huyu Highway besides G60 and S36.
