Innovation on the agenda

MORE than 80 high-ranking officials from China and abroad will attend the Pujiang Innovation Forum this weekend at Shanghai’s Dongjiao State Guest Hotel.

“Innovation is the key topic of the forum and speakers will provide their opinions to support Shanghai’s progress in the field of science and technology,” said Ma Xingfa, vice president of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, which is organizing the event.

As well as having delegates at the two-day forum, Russia will send a 120-member team to discuss and sign science and technology cooperation deals with Chinese enterprises, commission officials said.

Among the speakers at the event will be Viktor Mayer-Schonberger, the co-author of “Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think,” who will talk about the shifts in industrial production in the era of big data, and the effect they are having on business models, officials said.

Dow Chemical Co and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants will be among the companies represented at the event.
