Drunk bomb hoaxer jailed
A 40-YEAR-OLD man who telephoned police with a bomb hoax after he’d been drinking has been jailed for a year for fabricating terrorist information, prosecutors in Huangpu District said yesterday.
According to prosecutors, the hoax caused traffic jams and panic around the spot where the man, surnamed Xu, claimed the bomb was placed. On August 28, Huangpu police received several calls about a fight and bomb threat on Xueyuan Road. Police dispatched 50 officers to the scene but found nothing. Police held Xu in a hotel room the next morning. He told police that had been in a bad mood and wanted to give vent to his grievances after drinking.
